Swiss Balls
|
Swiss balls are relatively new to the fitness industry, however they have been used in rehabilitation for nearly 40 years.
The large, inflatable Swiss balls are now being used successfully in exercise and conditioning programs for all levels, from the unconditioned novice to elite professional athletes.
Swiss Ball training is very multi-functional and will offer the individual many advantages over conventional training methods.
-
Swiss balls Improve balance, which in turn improves agility.
-
They require a constant recruitment of the core muscles, which does not occur with machine training.
-
Strengthen postural muscles with a swiss ball, which are generally weak from long periods spent sitting in chairs
Not all Swiss Balls are Created equal! The Duraball Pro Swiss Ball is endorsed by world leading corrective and holistic exercise kinesiologist Paul Chek who was the first person to introduce Swiss balls to professional sports team in the United States. Paul has helped AOK an Australian manufacturer to develop the world’s best Swiss Ball. (Highest Quality Health and Fitness are the New Zealand distributers of the Duraball Pro Swiss Ball). Balance & Coordination. Exercises performed on the Swiss Ball Provide high levels of nervous system activation, challenges the nervous system. Thus giving athletes greater neurological coordination and capacity in the playing environment, reducing incidence of injury (Athletes who predominately use machine training have a difficult time transferring their strength and power to the playing environment).

Stretches Swiss Balls are highly effective stretching aids and can be used to develop strength in both open and closed chain environments. In Paul Chek’s book, How to Eat, Move and Be Healthy!, Paul will teach you how to perform 20 key stretch tests and the corresponding stretches to balance your body. As you will see, many of them are best performed with a Swiss Ball.
Strength and Weight Training The Swiss Ball can be used together with traditional strength training equipment like dumbbells, Olympic bars, curl bars, cable machines etc. The advantages that theyhave over a bench or the floor are the enhanced need for core and stabilizing muscle recruitment, this allows one to build a strong and coordinated body with the added aesthetic benefits of nicely toned abdominal and back musculature.
The Swiss Ball as a Chair The dura ball makes a great chair because the natural tendency is to keep moving when sitting on a round object. This is important because it gets fluid pumping through the spinal discs, keeping them hydrated throughout the day.
Storage & Display The Swiss Ball Tree is a very effective display unit and functional storage option for gym/fitness centres. Please click on Swiss ball tress for more information and prices.
